Machu Picchu is one of the 7 wonders of the world most visited by tourists, it has beautiful stone-based constructions, which were carved with great precision and detail, it is the most important work for the Incas because it was built on a rugged mountain and inaccessible, divided into two large sectors, urban and agricultural, separated by a great wall that descends down the slope of the hill until it reaches the banks of the Vilcanota River.
DAY 1: TRIP TO MACHU PICCHU BY TRAIN (1 DAY TOUR)
In the morning (04:00 AM) we will go to your hotel in Cusco with the transport that will take you to the Ollantaytambo train station (a car trip of 1 hour and 40 minutes approx.).
Once at the Ollantaytambo station (6:10 AM) you will have to board the train that will take you to the town of Aguas Calientes (approx. 2 hour train ride). On your trip you will enjoy extraordinary landscapes, you will also be able to appreciate the flora and fauna of this area of Cusco. Upon arrival at the Aguas Calientes station (Machu Picchu town), our staff will be waiting to give you the corresponding tour instructions and transfer you to the bus station where you will board the bus that will take you on a zigzag tour of the mountain until you reach the top where the amazing citadel of Machu Picchu is located (30 minute bus trip).
When you get off the bus, you will go to the entrance of Machu Picchu, where you must present your tickets and respective identification documents. It is from this place that the guided excursion in the citadel of Machu Picchu will begin, you will visit the main precincts of the city together with our guide who will give you all the information and history of Machu Picchu for approximately 2 hours.
After the guided tour, you must go to the second checkpoint inside the citadel of Machu Picchu to start the walk to Wayna Picchu (entrance between 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.). Arriving at the top you will appreciate a majestic view of the sanctuary of Machu Picchu and surroundings. After your visit to Wayna Picchu you will have free time for a few more hours to visit Machu Picchu on your own and take pictures. At the appropriate time you should take the bus back to the town of Aguas Calientes where you can enjoy lunch at one of the restaurants and optionally you can visit the thermo-medicinal baths that are north of the town.
At the appointed time (06:00 PM) you will have to take the return train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo, where our staff will be waiting for you to transport you to the city of Cusco. Arrival time in Cusco approximately 10:30 PM. (Or 12:00 PM according to train availability at the time of making your reservation).
